Kim Darst, was born and raised in Blairstown, NJ which is a town in northwest New Jersey. Kim got her helicopter license in 1988. From there she  progressed to her airplane and helicopter certified flight instructor license. After receiving  her airplane mechanic license Kim flew for Kiwi Airlines. In addition She currently teaches airplane and helicopter lessons at Stroudsburg, Pa and owns the airport in Montrose, Pa.

Kim's quest for adventure and love of nature led her to acquiring a Samoyed in 1997. This started her adventure into sledding dogs. She began with her Samoyeds Noah and Joey; then eventually by 2002 started acquiring Susan Butcher's Alaskan husky dogs (Prarie Dawn, Cujo and Cornie). Her love of the sport continued to grow and Kim acquired more of Susan's dogs. Kim entered her first race at High Point, NY where she took first place. Since then she has successfully completed Can-Am 30,60 and 250, Eagle Lake 100, Midnight Run 100 as well as many local races in the northeast. Her goal is to race the Iditarod in 2009.
