Kim Darst, was born and raised in Blairstown, NJ which is a town in northeast NJ. Kim's quest for adventure and love of nature led her to acquiring a Samoyed in 1997. This started her adventure into sledding dogs. She began with her Samoyeds Noah and Joey; then eventually by 2002 started acquiring Susan Butcher's Alaskan husky dogs (Prarie Dawn, Cujo and Cornie).

Her love of the sport continued to grow and Kim acquired more of Susan's dogs. Kim entered her first race at High Point, NY where she took first place. Since then she has successfully completed Can-Am 30,60 and 250, Eagle Lake 100, Midnight Run 100 as well as many local races in the northeast. Her goal is to race the Iditarod in 2009.

Kim's Helicopter experience started when she had the opportunity to ride front seat in a Helicopter on a tour over the Grand Canyon. Instead of looking at the view of the Canyon, her interest was the instrument panel gages. Upon arrival at home her first contact was the guidance counselor at school. As luck would have it, the counselor's "husband was a helicopter pilot".

Kim set a record by being the 1st person to fly a helicopter to her high school graduation. Kim landed the chopper in an adjacent soccer field, changed from sneakers to high heels and cap and gown and received her diploma.

Now that fate had determined her future, Kim at 16 started taking flying lessons at Ellenville. With her mothers help, the 2 hr trip to Ellenville, soon was rewarded when Kim received her pilots license at age 17. Just one year from the time she started lessons she became a "Certified Flight Instructor". Included in obtaining her CFI, Kim also added Helicopter pilot and the Commercial ratings. The above describes ambition, determination and motivation.

It was Kim's intent to become a Marine Biologist, but flying became her chosen career. Because her 1st interest was helicopters, she purchased a Bell-47. The type you see in M.A.S.H.. Kim still teaches in the 47 as well as a Schweitzer 300, and the Bell Jet Ranger. Her business has progressed to fixed wing aircraft, included are 2 Cessna 172's, 2 Aeroncas one with floats the other fixed gear, A Commanche PA-24-250 and Piper J3 cub.

After receiving her helicopter and fixed wing pilots licenses, Kim decided to attend a flight school in Miami, to obtain a ATP, Airline Transport License and was soon flying a Boeing 727 out of Newark N.J. one of the busiest airports in the USA. At age 28 she decided to return to her 1st love, teaching helicopter and fixed wing airplane pilots. Presently located at Stroudsburg/Pocono P.A. Kim has flown over 22,000 hrs of flight time, half of which are in the helicopters she owns. Her most recent purchase is the small grass strip airport in Montose P.A.
